I had the most amazing week at Funnel Hacking Live. Went into it thinking I was going to be learning marketing, came out of it with a new insight to myself, my business, and my life.
This week reminded me that it is so important to first, follow your heart when you are running a business. You have a path that you are supposed to be on. It's not like anyone else and it shouldn't be. So we cannot waste our brain power and resources comparing ourselves to what competitors are doing.
In working with my clients recently, I've been telling them they all have a superpower - an area of genius - that they have to focus on. It's programmed in our DNA and part of who we are. It's crucial to find others to support us in THEIR area of genius to make the work flow smoothly. (That you Alex Chafren for cementing this belief by speaking it to the crowd of 1200 people!)
For the people I've worked with in the past 6 weeks, we have drilled time and time again to take away the jargon, the business speak, the copycat-ness of their business and be real and authentic to who they are. Even a little vulnerable. A client, customer, or colleague can spot a fake and inauthenticity a mile a way. And if you want to connect with them, which you must, you have to be a little vulnerable. (Thanks to Marcus Lemonis of The Profit for confirming that one!!!!)
When you are building a business if your main focus is on the conversions, you're focusing on the wrong thing! It's not about the money, it's about changing the world. Whether it's making a family feel safe and happy with the air bnb you are brokering, or helping someone change their family by selling enough on Amazon to pay off debt, you must focus on the impact you are having.
Lastly for now, you must, must, must have people in your life to support you. We entrepreneurs have a different mind set and we speak a different language. To have other people in our lives who speak that language, who get that our brains are wired differently, that staying up all night working on a new idea is FUN, is absolutely invaluable! I have been so blessed in my business to connect with other people who get this. They live all across the world but they are my family. Last year when I became a Clickfunnels Certified Consultant, I thought it was a great way to make money and support my kids. Let me just say, God had way different ideas. This step brought me a new family to love and support ME in my quest to be the best version of me. It brought me amazing and dear friends to bounce ideas off of, to message in the middle of the night, to work through struggles and frustrations that we all encounter in our businesses. If you are open to the idea and you get involved in groups of like minded individuals, the cream that rises to the top of that will be the ones who can support you, your business, and you personally.
